Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Release Date
Written by the GamingMuzz team. Last updated: October 19, 2026.
Playground Games just gave PlayStation fans a date, and it lands later than the studio hinted. The Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date is January 26, 2027, with Premium early access on January 21. Forza Horizon 6 pre-orders opened on October 8, 2026.
That is 99 days from today. And there is a twist: the first paid expansion arrives the same day early access starts. So the real question isn’t only when you can play. It’s which edition keeps you from paying twice.
Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date: the quick answer

Region note: the unlock is 12:01 a.m. local time in most countries. In U.S. territories it is 12:01 a.m. EST everywhere, so western players start at 9:00 p.m. PST the night before.
Why did the Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date slip to 2027?
Because the studio promised 2026 and then missed it. At an Xbox Developer Direct earlier this year, Playground Games said PlayStation players would get the game later in 2026. Then September came, and VGC notes the studio still said this year.
So January is technically a delay. Neither the announcement nor the FAQ explains why, according to God Is a Geek. Still, the gap looks small once you zoom out.

Forza Horizon 5 reached Xbox and PC on November 9, 2021. Its PS5 version arrived on April 29, 2025, about 3.5 years later. This time the gap is 252 days from the May 19, 2026 launch on Xbox and PC. That is roughly eight months.
My read: the 2026 promise slipped, but this is a far quicker trip to PlayStation than last time. I’d call it a miss on the calendar, not a miss on the plan.
The Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date changes your edition math.
Pre-orders need a decision, not just a date. Here are the three Forza Horizon 6 editions as of October 19, 2026. Standard is the plain game. Deluxe adds two packs. Premium adds nearly everything else, plus the early start.

| Edition | USD | GBP | EUR | PS5 start | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $69.99 | £59.99 | €69.99 | January 26 | Full game |
| Deluxe | $99.99 | £89.99 | €99.99 | January 26 | Full game, Welcome Pack, Car Pass |
| Premium | $119.99 | £109.99 | €119.99 | January 21 | Full game, Expansion 1 (Expansion 2 later), Car Pass, Time Attack Car Pack, Italian Passion Car Pack, VIP Membership, Welcome Pack |
| Premium Upgrade | $59.99 | £59.99 | €59.99 | For Standard or Deluxe owners | Everything Premium adds |

Every full edition, and the Premium Upgrade, carries a pre-tuned Ferrari J50 if you buy before January 26. The car lands in your garage after the prologue. Ferrari built only ten real J50s, per the FAQ. The in-game one is as close as most of us get.
The Premium Edition is the interesting one. It costs $20 more than Deluxe. For that, you get 12 extra pack cars: eight Time Attack cars and four Italian Passion cars. You also get VIP Membership, the first Forza Horizon 6 expansion, and the second one when it arrives. Early access is the cherry on top. However, the FAQ lists the expansion as a separate purchase without a price. I can’t say exactly how much you save.
Prices also moved up since last time. Forza Horizon 5 launched on PS5 at $59.99, $79.99, and $99.99, according to Traxion. That makes Standard $10 higher now and Deluxe and Premium $20 higher. Early access grew too, from four days to five.
My read: charging more than last time while tying early access to an expansion is a bold bet. It pays off if the free update and the expansion deliver. If you’re unsure, Standard now and a later upgrade is the patient’s path.
Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date and the upgrade route
Already own the game on Xbox or PC? The PS5 copy is a standalone purchase, not a free add-on. Want Premium later? The $59.99 Premium Upgrade handles that. But the math isn’t equal across routes.

| Route to Premium | Total (USD) | Extra vs. buying outright |
|---|---|---|
| Premium Edition outright | $119.99 | None |
| Standard + Premium Upgrade | $129.98 | +$9.99 |
| Deluxe + Premium Upgrade | $159.98 | +$39.99 |
The Deluxe route is the trap. Deluxe and the upgrade both include the Welcome Pack and Car Pass, so you would pay for them twice. Standard, plus the upgrade, costs $9.99 more than Premium outright. That is the price of waiting. Since any full-edition pre-order carries the Ferrari, Standard now doesn’t cost you the car.
At 12:01 a.m.: Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date by region
The game unlocks one minute past midnight in your own country. U.S. players get a twist: every U.S. territory unlocks at 12:01 a.m. EST, so the west coast starts at 9:00 p.m. PST the night before. Prices follow your regional PlayStation Store. The FAQ lists dollar, pound, and euro prices and points everyone else to their local store.
Here is what you need on day one:
- A PS5, any model. All PS5 consoles get the 4K 30 fps Quality mode and the 60 fps Performance mode.
- A PSN account and a Microsoft account. The Microsoft link happens the first time you start the game.
- PlayStation Plus (Essential, Extra, or Premium) for online multiplayer. Solo play is free.
- The same Microsoft account you use on Xbox or Steam, if you want your progress to carry over.
Plenty carries over. Cross-play, cross-save, community content like EventLab races, liveries and tuning setups, and synced leaderboards all work across platforms. The studio also promises content parity, so features like Drift Attack arrive on day one. A free content update lands alongside the launch too.
Extras are solid. DualSense vibration and trigger effects are supported, and there is a Platinum Trophy. Remote Play works on PlayStation Portal. PS VR2 is a no, apart from the headset’s Cinematic mode.
My read: the Microsoft account link is the one speed bump. It is permanent for this game, and you can only relink the same account. Link the account you actually use on Xbox or Steam.
Leaks and gaps: what the Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date skips
One leak mattered here, and it held up. Billbil-kun, reporting through Dealabs on October 7, said the date would be January 26, 2027. The report also named a physical release and standard pricing of €69.99 or £59.99, according to Push Square. The official announcement came the next day and matched every one of those details.
Beyond that, the gaps are simply things nobody has announced yet:
| Open question | Status as of October 19, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Why the date moved from 2026 | Not explained in the announcement or the FAQ |
| PS5 Pro extras | Not announced; the FAQ lists only the two modes for all PS5 consoles. |
| Free launch update | Promised, with details due closer to release |
| Expansion 1 contents | New location, new gameplay, and extra cars; more details later. |
| Expansion 2 | No date; premium owners get it when it becomes available. |
| Expansion price | Sold separately, but no price in the FAQ |
Treat anything beyond this table as unconfirmed.
How I checked this
The GamingMuzz team hasn’t played the PS5 build, so this article rests on official Forza.net pages and outlet reports. Dates, prices, and availability were rechecked on October 19, 2026. The studio’s PS5 announcement and FAQ were the primary sources. VGC, Push Square, God Is a Geek, and Traxion supplied the timeline and comparison context.
One conflict came up: outlets differ on the Xbox and PC launch date. I used May 19, 2026, with May 15 as premium early access, which matches the official pre-order page. The arithmetic in the charts and the 252-day gap is our own.
FAQ
Do I get the PS5 version free if I already own it on Xbox or PC?
No. The PS5 version is a standalone product. Your progress carries over through the same Microsoft account, but paid add-ons must be bought again on each platform.
Do I need PlayStation Plus to play?
Only for online multiplayer. Any of the three PlayStation Plus tiers works, and solo play is free.
Will the PS5 version have the latest updates?
Yes. The studio promises content parity, including Drift Attack on day one, plus a free update at launch.
Is there a PS5 Pro mode?
Not announced as of October 19, 2026. The FAQ lists quality and performance modes for all PS5 consoles and names them. Pro-specific features.
Does it support PS VR2?
No. It isn’t a VR game, though you can play it in the headset’s cinematic mode.
The bottom line
The Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date is locked: January 26, with early access on January 21. Premium outright is the cleanest route. Standard plus a later upgrade is the patient’s one. Skip Deluxe plus the upgrade. Then watch for the free update details.
Update note: Expansion 1 details, the free launch update, and Expansion 2 timing are still pending. We will refresh this page when Playground Games shares them.
